The pie chart illustrates the initial occupations of Anthropology students after graduation, while the table shows how much they got paid after five years of work in three different sectors.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that the vast majority of graduates entered employment of some form after their degree course, with the highest percentage entering full time employment. Although a small percentage continued their education, this was much lower and was equal to those who were unemployed. In terms of the salaries of those in employment, on average, the majority earned over $75,000, but those working in government and freelancing earned more than those in private companies.
The pie chart shows that a little over half of the graduates were employed full-time while the proportions of those working part-time and the unemployed were significantly lower (15% and 12% respectively). Meanwhile, the figures for postgraduate studies or unknown occupations were identical (8% each), and the lowest were for those combining part-time work and higher education study, with only 5%. As a result, of those with a known destination, roughly three quarters were in employment, and an eighth were either in education or unemployed.
The table reveals that employees in private businesses had the lowest salaries as nearly half were earning from $25,000 to 74,999, a quarter received $75,000 – $99,999, and only 30% were being paid over $100,000. In contrast, 80% of government employees and freelancers were employed in the two highest pay bracket, (30% in the $75,000 – $99,999 bracket and 50% in $100,000+ for the former and 40% in each bracket for the later). Finally, these two sectors witnessed identical figures for the two lowest pay bands, with only 5% earning $25,000-49,999 and 15% making $50,000-74,999. This meant that only 20% earned under $74.99 in these fields as opposed to 45% in private companies.
